Printmaking: CLASS PROCEDURES:
GATHERING AND PASSING OUT MATERIALS
Each table works as a TEAM. The first team to complete the tasks below, be seated and quiet gets a point!
1. 1 person gathers 4 bench hooks, 4 brayers and 4 palette knives & places them appropriately at table.
2. 1 person gathers 4 separate ink colors and places 1 behind each bench hook.
3. 1 person gathers two towels, rinse, rings out (no dripping), and places one (flat) in middle of each table.
4. All others help organize table by clearing space and placing all personal items UNDER table.
When table is called by teacher....
5. Each person selects one piece of newsprint to hold prints and print paper (teacher will tell you how many)
8. Each person legibly writes their first and last name in the CENTER on the back and leaves names up so teacher can see.

creation process
1. Always keep your fingers and table clean by using the towels at the table. DO Not allow stray ink!
2. Use palette knife to take out a nickel size of ink, place in middle of bench hook.
3. Use brayer, light pressure, to roll alternating vertical and horizontal strokes to roll out ink
4. Leave a 1” border around the ink on the bench hook. So, do not spread ink larger than brayer itself!
5. Always place brayer on its back when not in use.
6. Place your prints on your piece of news print during creation time.
7. Only use supplies at your table.

Mrs. Justis will call a tables to put up wet artwork. Do NOT go to drying rack without being called.
1. 1 puts lids on ink.
2. 1 member from each table is on SINK duty.
3. 2 People pick up brayers, bench hooks, palettes knives and places them in sink.
4. 1 member form each table helps dry and organize clean brayers, bench hooks, and palette knives.
5. Available members bring newspaper with prints up to drying rack when Mrs. Justis calls.
6. 1 person checks counters and table for water puddles and stray ink.
7. Towels are placed in white bucket next to sink.
8. Everyone is seated and quiet.
